  • Summary: Buy the book!
  • Comment: I love this book and it has saved hours for my family and me! If you wish to save time and get through the lines quickly at Disney World, this is the book for you. Since my husband and I are teachers, we visit during the busiest times of the year and we have never stood in line longer than 40 minutes, thanks to the Unofficial Guide.

It is enjoyable reading and saves you time and money because the author has researched the best deals, the best days to go, and offers lots of other tips to have a wonderful vacation. It will also help you enjoy your vacation more since it has reviews of all of the restaurants and the hotels - no need to eat someplace that has gotten a poor review.

As far as the extra money for the website - yes, it would be nice if it was free but it was only $6.00 to get the year's subscription (half price if you had the book). The website is not sufficient on it's own but it is a great add-on.

Buy the book and glide through Disney World!

  • Summary: A must-read before your Disney trip!
  • Comment: We used this book thoroughly on our trip to WDW, and can't imagine not having it by our side. It gave great information, and objective opinions - as opposed to the Birnbaum "Official" guidebook, which is written by Disney and has nothing negative to say about anything. By contrast, the Unofficial Guide gives crucial planning information on which attractions to avoid, and which shouldn't be missed. If not for this guide, we could have taken our kids on a number of rides and attractions that Disney promotes as being kid-friendly, yet really are not.

  • Summary: A must have for a Disney trip
  • Comment: I have just as much fun planning the vacations as I do going on them, so this book is perfect. A Disney vacation is not relaxing, but a thrilling yet exhausting journey. This guide allows you to save both time and money, both invaluable commodities at Disney World, regardless of the timing of your trip. In a word, buy it!

  • Summary: Much needed guidance
  • Comment: With it being our very first trip to Disneyworld and definitely not knowing what to expect, this was a great book. It prepared us for a lot of things that you don't even have time to think about once you are there. It was nice to take it with us too. We could look up ratings on rides so we could avoid rides that might be too much for our child. I definitely recommend this book!

  • Summary: I've Been Using this Book for Years with Great Results!
  • Comment: I've been using this book (well previous versions of it) since 1993, I've even bought the book in years I haven't gone to Disney World just to keep up on what's going on - and have always found it to be extremely detailed in its information. I read the book from cover-to-cover and don't just use it as a reference guide. The UFG team appears to do extensive research on all of the topics in the book and I've used their recommendations on offsite hotels a number of times with great results. I tend to go in less the less crowded times of the year, but on days when the parks are crowded and I've used touring plans from the book, my family was able to save lots of time waiting on line and getting a lot of attractions done in short order - they work extremely well! I also used the mobile application this year and found it to be useful. This year I also used the website's Crowd Calendar and the results were amazing! On days the site said a park would be deserted the park was - on days it said a park would be packed, the park was - they were right on the money!! My only complaints are that some of the anecdotes are rather old - I think some of the little kids they mention in some of them now have families with little kids of their own (some anecdotes seem to go back to the 1993 edition) and that the maps could be a little better. I know the team spends lots of time on detailed data research and presentation, but for cover-to-cover readers, the entertainment (anecdotes) could be a little timelier, though many still apply even 17 years/editions later. I do have to time my trips better to align with the publishing of the latest edition of the book - when I go in September, the latest version seems to come out right after I get home. Going in late August this year, the 2011 edition came out 5 days into my trip - so again I didn't get the latest info - not their problem, just my scheduling of trips I guess.
Overall, I would recommend the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World to all readers wanting to make the most of their trips to the Most Magical Place on Earth!!!!
