  • Summary: A great travel companion!
  • Comment: I recently took my 11 yr old daughter to Rome prior to a cruise and used this book to guide us through our 2 days there. Although it is geared more toward families with younger children, the information and suggested walking tours, the maps, and the recommended do's/don'ts came in very handy as we had decided not to go on organized tours. We took the book with us everywhere we went. Often I studied it at the start of an outing so I could share the many interesting stories and anectdotes as we walked and my daughter loved it!

    I highly recommend this book!

  • Summary: Indispensable Book for Rome
  • Comment: Excellent book to take with you to Rome! We used this book as our primary guide book as we spent five days in Rome during Thanksgiving 2009. The walking tours in the book are great with little tidbits of information and fun facts. The book also gives activities for your little ones to find and do. We highly recommend this book if you're going to Rome!

  • Summary: A Wonderful Book!
  • Comment: We were so glad to have this book with us when we visited Rome. It is packed with heaps of information ........ plus there are some great ideas for kids in it. Ours just loved hunting for all the different symbols along the way, and have remembered lots of things about Rome as a result of this little book. It was our favourite guide and I thoroughly recommend it!!

  • Summary: Roman Travel Treats
  • Comment: For someone who has visited Rome numerous times, the author has made this book most complete and accessible to other travelers of all ages. No detail is overlooked as insignificant. Suggestions and planning tips are practical, such as the best times to visit sites, how to get there, and where to eat in the vicinity. Too often, other travel writers familiar with the area have let many such details fall by the wayside, considering them too mundane or bland or readily available onsite to be helpful. Parents and children alike will enjoy the maps and photos that invite further exploration.

  • Summary: indispensable
  • Comment: This was a great book for a visit to Rome with our children (ages 8 and 11) last summer. The kids used it to find places they wanted to visit beforehand. We short-term rented an apartment near the Piazza Navona from the operator of the Caesar House Residenze Romane (listed in the book), and this was an ideal place to stay. The tips on what kids will enjoy and what day and time to visit places with kids were spot on. Our kids really enjoyed Ostia Antica, featured prominently in the book, because they could run around freely (the rules are easy - stay off the walls and mosaics) and there was so much to see. Finally, Rome with Kids turned out to be much more accurate than the other guidebooks we looked at; it never led us astray.
