- Summary: Hopelessly out of date
- Comment: This book's 2009 copyright is very misleading. The book is hopelessly out of date. For example, it doesn't even mention the 2008 Olympic venues or the fabulous hotels and other facilities that were built for the Olympics. It doesn't show the ring roads or new subway lines and highways. We stayed in the fabulous Intercontinental Beichen Hotel next to the new Convention Center, the Water Cube, and the Bird's Nest, none of which appeared anywhere in any of Fodor's Guides to Beijing. The maps and directions were useless to us.

- Summary: Don't purchase.
- Comment: I have two major complaints about this book, the first is the map. It covers too small of an area and is not detailed enough(missing major streets). The second is the content. The book reads as a bad last minute project by the publishing house. It also has an underlining attitude that one should not expect to be asked to learn Chinese culture during sightseeing, nor be asked to pay a fair price for an item. It is almost as if the book doesn't expect the city to be as civilized and advanced as it is. Don't purchase this book. It was of no use to us on our travels.
